This is a substantial and luxuriously appointed home-from-home with a spacious, double-height living area, 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a quiet relaxing area upstairs with surprise balcony and desk space. A muted colour palette throughout enhances the restful ambience in harmony with our surroundings.
The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is a fantastic light and airy double-height space with large windows opening onto a large wraparound deck, perfect for watching the world go by and stargazing at night.
Underfloor heating keeps oak floors warm underfoot and a multi-fuel stove keeps you cosy should evenings cool. Floor to ceiling windows may improve solar gain, but more importantly, they bringing the outside in so you can make the most of views east, south and west from the warmth of indoors.
Central to the kitchen/dining area is an island unit with a unique, hand-crafted worktop crafted from beech trees from Lews Castle grounds, fallen in storms. The kitchen and utility room are well stocked to make dining in, or a spot of baking, a pleasure, with induction hob, ovens, microwave, Nespresso machine, wine chillers and fridge, cookery books if you need inspiration, oh and a dishwasher makes tidying up a little easier. A gas BBQ sits outside by our dining deck in the reeds for sunny days.
The bedrooms too, live up to the surroundings. Both face south to make the most of the views. The master suite with super king bed has a wet-room style en-suite shower room and those views again! The second bedroom (super king or twin) exudes a crisp style, directly opposite the bathroom with its relaxing bath and separate shower. Both have dressing gowns, Egyptian cotton, soft towels and were furnished to show off our local Harris tweed.
For the house to live up to its design and its surroundings, our only choice was to furnish it to the highest standards with all the small details we would expect ourselves on holiday to make any stay comfortable. In addition, there is a good stock of local maps and guidebooks. The utility room stores holiday essentials like beach towels and picnic gear! The garage has plenty of hanging space for wetsuits, outdoor gear and bikes. We also have fishing rods available and 2 bikes for exploring. There is superfast wi-fi and a laptop if you feel the need to connect to the outside world along with usb sockets, Smart TV, BOSE music system, books & games, cds and dvds.
